South Asian marriages often involve two families, a community watching, and expectations nobody wrote down. Couples therapy for South Asian couples works better when the counsellor already understands this. The Meeting Matters offers online couples therapy and marriage counselling, led by Mr. Muhammad Naushad Anjum, a psychologist registered with the UK Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and in the UAE, who specialises in couple, marriage and family counselling.
Session fees at The Meeting Matters are set in Pakistani Rupees (PKR 5,000–15,000, with a 20% student discount) — for clients paying in GBP, USD or CAD, that typically works out to a fraction of local therapy costs, without compromising on qualified, evidence-based psychologists who understand your cultural background firsthand.
Ready to talk to someone?
In-law tension and joint-family expectations, a spouse who arrived on a spouse visa and is still settling, one partner working long hours while the other feels isolated, differences between a partner raised abroad and one raised in South Asia, arranged marriage and growing into love, money and remittances to family, decisions about children, and the silence around problems that "should stay inside the home".
Both partners join one secure video session, even from different places. The first session lets each of you describe the problem and agree a few goals. You can start alone if your partner is not ready. We use structured couples approaches informed by CBT, Emotionally Focused Therapy and the Gottman Method.
Mr. Muhammad Naushad Anjum founded The Meeting Matters in 2010. He is registered with the HCPC in the UK and in the UAE, holds an MPhil and an MSc in Psychology, and has been consultant psychologist to the employee assistance programmes of BBC, Optum and Workplace Options since 2012. His specialist areas are CBT, DBT, couple and marriage counselling, family counselling and trauma. You can read his full profile and background.
See marriage counselling for infidelity and divorce and separation counselling. If your spouse is abroad, read marriage problems when your spouse is abroad.
If your faith matters to you, tell us at the start. Counselling here is professional and evidence-based, and respects your values. We do not issue religious rulings. See Islamic and Muslim marriage counselling.
Fees are confirmed when you book. Book a session or message us on WhatsApp with your country and time zone. We usually reply within about 30 minutes. Rules about who may provide therapy to people in a given country, state or province vary. We will tell you plainly what is appropriate for your location when you book, and this service does not replace local emergency or crisis care.
We are not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number. If there is domestic abuse, please contact a local domestic abuse service; in the UK the National Domestic Abuse Helpline is 0808 2000 247, and in the USA the National Domestic Violence Hotline is 1-800-799-7233.

“I am truly grateful to Ms. Tasmiya Asghar and the team at Meeting Matters. I reached out during one of the most difficult periods of my life while dealing with grief and trying to be the best parent I could be for my children. Ms. Tasmiya's kindness, empathy, and guidance helped me navigate emotions that often felt overwhelming. She helped me understand my feelings, regain perspective, and think through practical ways of supporting my children and myself. I always felt respected, heard, and comfortable during our sessions. I would wholeheartedly recommend Ms. Tasmiya Asghar and Meeting Matters to anyone going through a challenging time and looking for professional support in a compassionate environment.”
