People searching for Islamic counselling are usually looking for two things at once: professional help for anxiety, low mood, marriage or family problems, and a counsellor who will respect their faith and not treat it as the problem. The Meeting Matters offers faith-respecting counselling online, with Mr. Muhammad Naushad Anjum, a psychologist registered with the UK Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and in the UAE, in English, Urdu or Punjabi.
Ready to talk to someone?
We provide professional, evidence-based counselling and psychotherapy, such as CBT, that respects Muslim faith and values. We are not a religious authority and do not issue fatwas or religious rulings. For questions of fiqh, please consult a qualified scholar. Many clients use therapy and religious guidance side by side.
Many Muslims ask this before their first session. Seeking treatment for mental and emotional difficulty is widely understood as consistent with caring for your health. Our guide is therapy allowed in Islam explains the common questions, and the one on marriage counselling in Islam covers couples. For a ruling on your own situation, speak to a scholar you trust.
Mr. Muhammad Naushad Anjum founded The Meeting Matters in 2010. He is registered with the HCPC in the UK and in the UAE, holds an MPhil and an MSc in Psychology, and has been consultant psychologist to the employee assistance programmes of BBC, Optum and Workplace Options since 2012. His specialist areas are CBT, DBT, couple and marriage counselling, family counselling and trauma. You can read his full profile and background.
Anxiety and constant worry, depression and low mood, marriage problems and in-law conflict, grief and loss, stress and burnout, guilt and shame, repeated religious doubts or intrusive thoughts (sometimes a form of OCD, known in many communities as waswasa), and difficulty balancing faith with life abroad. See anxiety, depression, OCD treatment and Islamic marriage counselling.
Sessions are online by secure video. The first session is about listening: what is happening, what you want to change, and how faith and family fit into your life. We then agree a plan. Mr. Anjum is mostly available online, and our client team arranges bookings around his availability and your time zone, and can offer another psychologist from our team if you want to start sooner, including a female psychologist if you prefer.
If cost is a concern, there are often free community or public services in your country, sometimes with waiting lists. In the UK, NHS Talking Therapies accept self-referral. This is a private service, and fees are confirmed when you book. See also Muslim therapist online.
Book a session or message us on WhatsApp with your country and time zone. We usually reply within about 30 minutes. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number; in the UK Samaritans is 116 123, and in the USA or Canada you can call or text 988.

βI am truly grateful to Ms. Tasmiya Asghar and the team at Meeting Matters. I reached out during one of the most difficult periods of my life while dealing with grief and trying to be the best parent I could be for my children. Ms. Tasmiya's kindness, empathy, and guidance helped me navigate emotions that often felt overwhelming. She helped me understand my feelings, regain perspective, and think through practical ways of supporting my children and myself. I always felt respected, heard, and comfortable during our sessions. I would wholeheartedly recommend Ms. Tasmiya Asghar and Meeting Matters to anyone going through a challenging time and looking for professional support in a compassionate environment.β
