Premarital Counseling

Guided conversations before marriage around expectations, families, finances, roles and values.

How this service helps

Structured pre-marriage counseling and engagement counseling to build a strong foundation before the wedding — covering expectations, finances, family integration, communication styles and shared values, before they become sources of conflict. For couples in Islamabad, Pakistan, the UK or planning an international or arranged marriage, premarital counselling helps surface important conversations early, in a guided and non-judgemental setting.

What We Cover

Sessions typically address money management and financial expectations, roles and responsibilities within the household, relationships with in-laws and extended family, plans around children, religious and cultural practices, communication and conflict-resolution styles, and each partner's expectations of married life.

Why Couples Choose Premarital Counselling

Many of the conflicts that surface years into a marriage — over finances, family involvement, or unspoken expectations — could have been addressed earlier with an honest conversation. Premarital counselling gives you the space to have these conversations before the wedding, when it's easier to adjust expectations than to undo years of built-up frustration.

What This Involves

A short series of sessions designed to surface topics couples often avoid before marriage. Your therapist introduces one topic at a time in a structured way, helping you both express expectations honestly, understand where you differ, and agree on how you'll handle disagreements once married.

Who This Is For

Engaged couples, couples in arranged marriage processes, or those in a serious relationship considering marriage, who want to enter their marriage with clarity rather than assumptions. This is especially valuable for couples merging different family backgrounds, cultures or expectations around gender roles.

Pre-Marriage Counseling Online and in Pakistan

Pre-marriage counseling is the same as premarital counseling: guided sessions before the wedding. You can attend in person at our F-11/1 clinic in Islamabad, or online from anywhere in Pakistan, including Lahore and Karachi, or from abroad. Many couples prefer online sessions because both families are in different cities. Fees depend on the therapist, with a 20% discount for students. See also our guide to when to start premarital counseling.

What to Expect

Sessions are practical and conversation-led, not clinical. You'll leave each session with a clearer picture of where you align and where you need more conversation — often long before the wedding day arrives.
