If you are a British Pakistani, a student, a worker or a family who has moved to the UK, it can help to talk to a psychologist who understands the language, the family expectations and the pressure of living between two cultures. The Meeting Matters offers online therapy for Pakistanis in the UK, led by Mr. Muhammad Naushad Anjum, a psychologist registered with the UK Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Session fees at The Meeting Matters are set in Pakistani Rupees (PKR 5,000–15,000, with a 20% student discount) — for clients paying in GBP, USD or CAD, that typically works out to a fraction of local therapy costs, without compromising on qualified, evidence-based psychologists who understand your cultural background firsthand.
Ready to talk to someone?
Mr. Muhammad Naushad Anjum founded The Meeting Matters in 2010. He is registered with the HCPC in the UK and in the UAE, holds an MPhil and an MSc in Psychology, and has been consultant psychologist to the employee assistance programmes of BBC, Optum and Workplace Options since 2012. His specialist areas are CBT, DBT, couple and marriage counselling, family counselling and trauma. You can read his full profile and background.
Many Pakistanis find it easier to describe worry, shame or family conflict in Urdu or Punjabi than in English. Therapy with someone who already understands expectations about marriage, in-laws, honour, respect for parents and religion means you spend your sessions on the problem, not on explaining where you come from. Read why therapy in Urdu helps.
Anxiety and low mood, stress and burnout, trauma and loss, relationship and marriage problems, family expectations and in-law conflict, cultural identity, loneliness, culture shock after a move, and the strain of a spouse or parents living far away. We use CBT and other evidence-based methods, and sessions are confidential.
Many Pakistani couples in the UK come under pressure from two families and two cultures at once. Mr. Anjum works with couples on communication, trust, family expectations and decisions about the future. See Muslim and Pakistani marriage counselling in the UK.
Sessions are online by secure video, in English, Urdu or Punjabi. Mr. Anjum has a busy travel schedule and is mostly available online; our client team arranges bookings around his availability and your time zone, and can offer another psychologist from our team if you want to start sooner. Tell us your UK time zone when you book. We usually reply within about 30 minutes.
In the UK, the title "practitioner psychologist" is protected, and registered psychologists are listed on the HCPC register at hcpc-uk.org. Ask us for registration details at any time, before you book.
Fees for UK clients are confirmed when you book, and there are no hidden charges. Book a session or message us on WhatsApp. For UK cities, see our pages for London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Bradford and Luton.
We are not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger in the UK, call 999. For urgent mental health support, contact NHS 111 or call Samaritans on 116 123, which are free.

“I am truly grateful to Ms. Tasmiya Asghar and the team at Meeting Matters. I reached out during one of the most difficult periods of my life while dealing with grief and trying to be the best parent I could be for my children. Ms. Tasmiya's kindness, empathy, and guidance helped me navigate emotions that often felt overwhelming. She helped me understand my feelings, regain perspective, and think through practical ways of supporting my children and myself. I always felt respected, heard, and comfortable during our sessions. I would wholeheartedly recommend Ms. Tasmiya Asghar and Meeting Matters to anyone going through a challenging time and looking for professional support in a compassionate environment.”
