Muslims in the USA and Canada often say the same thing: they want a therapist who understands faith, family and the pressure of living between cultures, and they cannot easily find one near them. The Meeting Matters offers online therapy for Muslims in North America, led by Mr. Muhammad Naushad Anjum, a psychologist registered with the UK Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and in the UAE, with evening sessions available through our team.
Session fees at The Meeting Matters are set in Pakistani Rupees (PKR 5,000–15,000, with a 20% student discount) — for clients paying in GBP, USD or CAD, that typically works out to a fraction of local therapy costs, without compromising on qualified, evidence-based psychologists who understand your cultural background firsthand.
Ready to talk to someone?
Mr. Muhammad Naushad Anjum founded The Meeting Matters in 2010. He is registered with the HCPC in the UK and in the UAE, holds an MPhil and an MSc in Psychology, and has been consultant psychologist to the employee assistance programmes of BBC, Optum and Workplace Options since 2012. His specialist areas are CBT, DBT, couple and marriage counselling, family counselling and trauma. You can read his full profile and background.
Mr. Anjum is mostly available online and bookings are arranged by our client team around his availability and your time zone. For clients in the USA and Canada who need evening sessions, we can also offer Ms. Alya Riaz, who works mostly with clients in North America. Tell us your time zone when you book.
If your faith matters to you, tell us at the start. Counselling here is professional, evidence-based therapy that respects a Muslim's values and does not ask you to set faith aside. We do not issue religious rulings; for questions of fiqh, please consult a qualified scholar. Many people find it helpful to read is therapy allowed in Islam.
Anxiety and low mood, stress, relationship and marriage problems, family and in-law conflict, grief at a distance, cultural identity, discrimination and Islamophobia-related stress, loneliness after a move, and parenting between two cultures.
Sessions are by secure video, so you can attend from New York, New Jersey, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Atlanta, Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Calgary, Vancouver, Ottawa or anywhere else. See also Pakistani therapists for the USA and Canada and counselling for Pakistanis living abroad.
Rules about who may provide therapy to people in a given US state or Canadian province vary. We will tell you plainly what is appropriate for your location when you book, and this service does not replace local emergency or crisis care.
Fees are confirmed when you book, and there are no hidden charges. Book a session or message us on WhatsApp with your city and time zone. We usually reply within about 30 minutes.
We are not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911. In the USA or Canada you can also call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

“I am truly grateful to Ms. Tasmiya Asghar and the team at Meeting Matters. I reached out during one of the most difficult periods of my life while dealing with grief and trying to be the best parent I could be for my children. Ms. Tasmiya's kindness, empathy, and guidance helped me navigate emotions that often felt overwhelming. She helped me understand my feelings, regain perspective, and think through practical ways of supporting my children and myself. I always felt respected, heard, and comfortable during our sessions. I would wholeheartedly recommend Ms. Tasmiya Asghar and Meeting Matters to anyone going through a challenging time and looking for professional support in a compassionate environment.”
