Premarital counselling gives an engaged couple a guided space to talk through the things that cause most early-marriage conflict before the wedding: money, in-laws, roles, children, faith and how you handle disagreement. The Meeting Matters provides pre-marriage counselling to couples in Karachi online, with qualified psychologists, in Urdu or English, so sessions fit around work, wedding planning and two families' schedules.
Ready to talk to someone?
Premarital counselling (also written pre-marital or pre-marriage counselling) is a short series of structured sessions with a psychologist before marriage. It is not a test you can fail and it is not for couples who are in trouble. It is a way to have the important conversations early, learn how the two of you handle conflict and agree expectations while they are still easy to talk about. See our main premarital counselling page for the full service and our guide on what premarital counselling actually covers.
Karachi marriages often bring together two large families, two sets of expectations and, increasingly, two careers. Couples ask us to help them talk about living with in-laws versus a separate home, how money will be managed when both partners earn, whether one partner will move cities or abroad, and how to keep wedding-season pressure from both families from spilling into the relationship. Arranged-marriage couples who have met only a few times often use the sessions simply to get to know each other properly; read is premarital counselling normal for arranged marriages?.
Typical topics are finances and financial expectations, roles and responsibilities at home, relationships with in-laws and extended family, plans and timing for children, religious and cultural practice, intimacy and expectations, communication and conflict style, and what each of you learned about marriage from your own parents. Your psychologist uses structured questions and short exercises so that nothing important is left to chance. Sessions are private, and nothing is shared with either family.
Yes. Preparing for marriage with honest conversation and seeking help from a qualified professional is consistent with Islamic values. Our sessions are psychological counselling, not religious rulings, and your faith can be part of the conversation as much as you wish. See Islamic marriage counselling and our guide on whether marriage counselling is allowed in Islam.
Most couples complete three to six sessions. Starting two to three months before the nikah or rukhsati leaves time to talk things through without the last-minute rush, and couples married within the past year use the same structure. Our guide covers when to start premarital counselling.
Sessions are by secure video, so you can join from Clifton, DHA, Gulshan, North Nazimabad or anywhere in Karachi, or from two different cities or countries if one of you is currently abroad. Evening and weekend slots are available. Our page on marriage counselling in Karachi explains how online couple sessions run, and if a marriage has already been shaken by a betrayal, see infidelity counselling in Karachi.
Sessions start from PKR 5,000; a couple session is a one-hour combined session for both partners and the fee is the same online or in person. Students receive a 20% discount. Message us on WhatsApp with your wedding timeline and we will suggest a psychologist and a plan, usually within 30 minutes.

“I am truly grateful to Ms. Tasmiya Asghar and the team at Meeting Matters. I reached out during one of the most difficult periods of my life while dealing with grief and trying to be the best parent I could be for my children. Ms. Tasmiya's kindness, empathy, and guidance helped me navigate emotions that often felt overwhelming. She helped me understand my feelings, regain perspective, and think through practical ways of supporting my children and myself. I always felt respected, heard, and comfortable during our sessions. I would wholeheartedly recommend Ms. Tasmiya Asghar and Meeting Matters to anyone going through a challenging time and looking for professional support in a compassionate environment.”
