Loneliness Counselling

Loneliness is not the same as being alone. You can feel deeply lonely in a crowded family home, a marriage or a workplace. It is a common experience, and it is also a signal worth listening to. The Meeting Matters offers counselling for loneliness and isolation in Islamabad and online across Pakistan, including for Pakistanis living abroad.

Ready to talk to someone?

What Loneliness Feels Like

A sense of being unseen, of having no one to talk to honestly, of pretending to be fine, or of not belonging anywhere. Some people feel it after moving cities or countries, after a breakup or loss, in a marriage that has gone quiet, or when social anxiety makes people hard to approach.

Common Causes

Moving away from family, studying or working abroad, divorce or separation, bereavement, long hours or remote work, social anxiety, low self-esteem, a difficult family environment, and past experiences that made it hard to trust others. Loneliness also often goes alongside depression and anxiety, each making the other worse.

How Counselling Helps

Therapy gives you a steady space to be honest, which is a relief in itself. Together you work out what is behind the isolation, address thoughts such as "no one would care" that keep you from reaching out, build social confidence step by step, and strengthen the relationships you already have.

For Those Living Abroad

Many Pakistanis abroad feel cut off from family, language and community. We offer online sessions in English, Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi so you can talk in the language you think in.

When to Seek Help

If loneliness has lasted weeks or months, is affecting your sleep, mood or motivation, or you find yourself withdrawing more, it is worth speaking to someone. If you ever feel unsafe, contact emergency services or a helpline right away.
