Parent Guidance and Parenting Counseling

Parenting is hard, and nobody gets a manual. Parent guidance is a practical, confidential service in which a child psychologist works with you, as the parent, to understand your child, respond to difficult behaviour and build a calmer home. The Meeting Matters offers parenting counseling online across Pakistan and in Islamabad, in English, Urdu or Punjabi.

What Parent Guidance Is

In parent guidance sessions, you meet the psychologist, with or without your child, to talk about what is happening and what to try. It is not a judgement of your parenting. It is a way to get expert help with specific problems, such as tantrums, defiance, anxiety, sleep, screen time, school, sibling fights or a child who will not listen.

When Parents Seek It

Common reasons include a child who is angry or aggressive, a child who is anxious or clingy, school complaints, a teenager who has become distant or rebellious, the effects of a divorce or a loss, a new baby, a move, or simply feeling worn out and unsure what to do. You do not need a diagnosis to ask for help.

What We Cover

Setting clear rules and routines, responding to tantrums and defiance, supporting a child with anxiety, handling screens and gaming, helping with school and homework, siblings and jealousy, talking to teenagers, helping a child through family change, and looking after your own stress. See our guides on teen gaming and mobile addiction and helping children cope with divorce.

How Sessions Work

The first session is about understanding your child and your concerns. You then leave with a few specific things to try before the next session, and we review what worked. Some parents come for a few sessions; others combine parent guidance with therapy for the child. See child psychology.

Parent Guidance for Teenagers

Parents of teenagers often need help with communication, privacy, exam pressure, social media and conflict. See teen counseling.

Fees and Booking

Sessions are online by secure video or in person in Islamabad, in the evenings and at weekends. Sessions start from PKR 5,000 and go up to PKR 15,000 depending on the psychologist and session type, with a 20% discount for students. The fee is the same online or in person.
