The goal of child counselling, a type of therapy, is to assist kids and teenagers in managing behavioural, emotional, and mental health problems. It offers a secure and encouraging setting where kids may communicate their ideas and emotions and pick up coping mechanisms to deal with different obstacles.

Children who are struggling with a variety of challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, family disputes, difficulty in school, behavioural issues, problems with their peers, loss, and more, may find it helpful to get child counselling. Seeking professional counsel may be beneficial if you observe consistent changes in your child’s behaviour, emotions, or academic achievement.

During a child counselling session, a qualified therapist will involve your kid in age-appropriate activities such as play therapy, talk therapy, art therapy, or other approaches to help them explore and express their emotions. Your kid and the therapist will collaborate to set objectives and create coping mechanisms that meet their individual requirements.

Meeting Matters offers a peaceful setting that is family oriented. The main quality of Meeting Matters is that, here, you will find unconditional regard; warm acceptance without any fear of judgment. We have well-versed practitioners who will help to guide you towards the therapy that is most suitable for your specific needs, based on your specific issues and your ‘own therapy goals’.

Involving parents is frequently a crucial part of child counselling. In order to give you support, information, and direction on how to best assist your kid outside of treatment, the therapist may meet with you alone or involve you in some or all of the sessions, depending on your child’s age and the severity of their concerns.

Each child’s counselling progress might be unique and may not necessarily follow a straight line. The therapist for your kid will evaluate their development on a regular basis and report back to you. Over time, you could observe changes in your child’s behaviour, mood, relationships, or coping mechanisms, which would be a sign that counselling is working.

Children often have anxiety or resistance when it comes to going to counselling, particularly if they don’t know what to anticipate or think of treatment as a punishment. Engaging your kid in the decision-making process and having an honest discussion with them about the advantages of counselling might be beneficial. They can also feel less worried if they discover a therapist who specialises in treating kids and establishes a friendly, non-threatening atmosphere.
